Making light work of day one, our ground works contractors begin their journey with us...

Week 1 – 4-10 November (see our gallery of week 1 below)

So the building work finally begins on our long awaited and long prepared for Guru Shakti Dham – this special Meditation Hall - a sacred space to experience the inner journey.

In October we took on the services of our Project Manager, Carl Norris, who has been working closely with us to understand our vision as an organisation, the significance of the Guru Shakti Dham and the importance of protecting and enhancing the vibrations of this sacred site in all aspects of design, materials and workmanship in this building.

You can watch our short video, where Carl shows you round the site and explains the initial work.

Phase I construction of the Guru Shakti Dham begins!

On Monday 4 November our contractor, Heather Banks, who are undertaking the first phase of construction (the groundworks), arrived to set up the site and bring their mechanical equipment and facilities for the workers.

The day was dry and sunny and it was taken up by the delivery of the plant and machinery; the site cabins, being lifted into place by crane; and setting up of the site fencing.  Once all this was in, they were ready to start work by demolishing and clearing the existing block work of the front outbuilding that housed the oil tanks. The tanks had been moved a few weeks before as this is where the new toilet block will be built. You can see in our gallery below that they quickly made light work of the demolition of the old building!

They also cleared and laid the base layers of the driveway to improve access to the back of the property and make it safe for the heavy vehicles needed on site. The current Guru Shakti Dham wood cabin was lifted and relocated so that work on the foundation could be started.

As part of their work plan, Heather Banks are undertaking all the excavations, piling and ground beams, membranes and damp proof, drainage as well as the brick and block walling for the toilet block amongst other things.
